In this short blog, Erica will walk you through one of her typical workdays at Trustmary. She works at the Jyväskylä office and often brings her dachshund Markku (the CHO at Trustmary) to work too.
Arrived at work with Markku, poured a cup of coffee.
Shoutout to Aki Honkala for making the coffee! He arrives at the Jyväskylä office at 7:30 each morning and makes the first pot. Early bird catches the worm?
Checking my to-do’s and prioritizing work for the day.
I was sick last week, so I'm a little behind on adding translations of our blogs. The tasks I do heavily influence my choice of music.
As I work with translations, I decided to listen to a Swedish rapper, Silvana Imam and her Naturkraft album.
I put the headphones on and turned the music on.
I added translations and handed out assignments to other team members.
Coffee break with Tytti.
Sales team had their break at 9:30-9:45 as they do each day. Tytti and I had a chance to catch up on how the both of us are doing.
New music to keep me focused: Gasellit Seis is my choice.
Previous album ended and I need some energy to get this thing done ASAP.
Rammstein's Mutter to the rescue!
Some fast command c & command v - action taking place.
Decided that I’m done with adding translations for the day. I’ll have lunch now and then I’ll move on to more pressing matters.
Almost everyone at the Jyväskylä office went to enjoy a team lunch (one of my favorite benefits at Trustmary, because food=life). However, I brought my own lunch today and so did Senni, Sara and Valtteri.
I asked them for music recommendations for the rest of the day. I said I need energetic songs/albums.
Valtteri recommended Antenne Bayern 2022 playlist on Spotify.
Senni said that she likes Spanish dance playlists and “suomipopin klassikot”.
Sara's go-to is Pink Floyd - Money.
Self-evaluation of performance in Q1
Konsta Kaskismaa heard I asked for music recommendations and he delivered some excellent suggestions:
I had a few battles with Wordpress and was able to win approximately 80% of them.
For the rest of the day, I’ll be going through and editing articles others have written. If everything is good, they’ll be added to Wordpress and I’ll order translations for them.
Our blog is translated into five languages which means that we are able to capture a very wide audience.
Coffee break with Tytti and Adraina
Back to worky work with my most listened playlist:
00s Metal Classics This always gets me super-focused.
The only meeting of the day is about setting the KPIs I’ll be responsible for during Q2. We collectively use the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) framework and go over the results together each month.
Increased transparency between teams
Everyone knows what other teams are doing
Increased individual accountability (everyone’s success can be measured)
Feeling that we’re all working toward the same goal
Summary of the day
All in all, a very basic day. I don't usually spend that much time on adding translations, but those had to be done today.
I start each morning with a cup of coffee and by having a look at what has to get done that day. From that point on, the day's layout is determined by the tasks I have to do.
What I like the most is the sense of control I have in my own work. No-one is saying what I have to do on a daily basis, but it's up to me to stay on top of the game. I was successful in reaching my Q1 goals and I'm looking forward to crushing the set goals for Q2. 💪🏻
